Balenciaga gay pride hut
Fashion
Pride month is here and according to Balenciaga, anybody is gender non-conforming. The message is one of diversity and inclusivity, proving that there is not a standard look for someone who falls into the categories of sapphic, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, or queer. Through a series of photos and videos by Patrick Welde, a diverse cast decked out in skin-tight tops, baggy hoodies, graphic tees, caps, scarves, socks and graphic jewellery inspired by gendered symbols made visible by a skirt and pants – all of which of course suit Balenciaga’s quintessential silhouette.
While in some places a chart of international inclusivity flags are featured, there are also exclusive iterations of the Pool Slide, the Track Sneaker and some gym shorts. Each has rainbow colour accents which function as a visual aid to Balenciaga’s history of promoting LGBTQIA+ visibility and acceptance. Plus, 15% of profits from the offering will be donated to Outright Action International, a critical LGBTQIA+ advocate organisation — the only of its kind with consultative status and a permanent presence at the

Following on from the success of last year’s unashamedly rainbow-emblazoned collection of clothing and accessories, Balenciaga rejoins the Self-acceptance month festivities with a new capsule collection. Demna, Balenciaga’s openly gay imaginative director, has opened up in the past about the struggles of growing up in a day and place where he was unable to convey himself through clothing.
The campaign, titled Anybody is Queer, is lensed by Patrick Welde and sees a diverse cast wearing pieces from the new plummet, which consists of tops, T-shirts, hoodies, caps, scarves, socks and jewellery, featuring a gendered symbol blueprint that’s been flipped and subverted to depict homosexual love.

Review of Balenciaga Anybody Is Queer Ad Campaign by Photographer Patrick Welde
Balenciaga celebrates the infinite diversity of queer identity with its new campaign for Event , captured by photographer Patrick Welde.
In characteristic Balenciaga fashion, the house’s Lgbtq+ fest collection sees it grab a relatively minimal, incisively subdued approach. Nothing here is plastered with rainbows; instead Balenciaga has subtly reworked binary symbology into inclusive, gender-fluid imagery, and celebrated the many inclusivity flags around the world.
Welde’s campaign imagery consists of portraits of queer artists and activists posing in everyday scenes from their lives while dressed in looks that incorporate pieces of the capsule and other Balenciaga pieces into their own personal approach. The message is clearly one of diversity and inclusivity, proving that there is not a representative look for someone who falls into the categories of lesbian, gay, bi-curious, transgender, intersex, or queer.
Highlighting a commitment to bringing this message to the forefront of its cultural pres
