LGBTQIA+ celebrations to showcase Victoria's Pride
A landmark program of pride events and projects returns to Victoria each year as part of a statewide celebration of LGBTQIA+ communities.
The annual event named Victoria’s Pride (previously Melbourne Pride) will be held across the state for at least four years to support and celebrate our rainbow communities.
Victoria’s Pride kicks off in November with a series of regional activities, culminating in a one-day street party in Melbourne’s iconic Gertrude and Smith Street precinct on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people, from am to pm as the closing event of Midsumma Festival. It includes multiple stages with free, live entertainment including song, comedy, guest speakers, circus, drag and art installations. Performing artists are announced ahead of the event.

The Victoria Pride Festival kick-off is just days away, and this year, organizers are gearing up for a celebration fond never before, according to the Victoria Pride Population (VPS).
That’s because the festival returns in person tracking a pandemic pause with a brand-new parade map and festival experience, mixed in with the signature free Pride events the community already knows and loves.
Just in time for summer and driven by the theme ‘Pride In You,’ the Victoria Event Festival launches this Thursday, June 23rd, until Saturday, July 2nd.
“The pandemic has been hard on 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and we are looking forward to connecting again,” the VPS exclaims.
Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Youth Pride Kick-off offers a ‘Queer Prom’ night of dancing, harmony, local performance, and art opportunities for ages 15 to 21 at E & N Roundhouse.
Then on Friday, June 24th, the Big Gay Dog Step hits Dallas Road at Cook Street from until 8 p.m., with puppy owners

PROGRAM: From midday to 9pm, free, family-friendly activities include live business, community stalls and interactive demonstrations, uncover to the general public. Midsumma is committed to providing culturally and creatively diverse content and the program includes a broad range of artists and speakers.
PARTICIPATION: Midsumma want you to get resourceful and be involved! We encourage distinct offers that feature local businesses, promotion of parklets as ‘front row’ viewing, Pride aligned décor and interactive shop front displays. Perform you have a performance space, a large screen or a dance floor? There is ample opportunity to be part of the event and we would love to hear your ideas!
SITE PLAN: The solid historical and significant LGBTQIA+ connection to Melbourne’s Inner North is at the heart of the celebration. With the support of the Yarra City Council, Midsumma is delighted to deliver this event amongst the vibrant streets of Fitzroy and Collingwood, activating sections of Smith St, Gertrude
The company responsible for organizing this event is called the Victoria Lgbtq+ fest Society. Since its establishment in as a profit organization they have been dedicated to supporting the local lgbtq+Q+ community through different initiatives such as programs, events and resources. Their collaboration with businesses, community organizations and volunteers plays a role in creating an inclusive celebration.
