Disgracefully, that’s the number of U.S. states that require sex education curriculums be comprehensively inclusive to LGBTQIA+ folks.

Most sex education programs, instead, assume that those receiving the information are both heterosexual and cisgender. If there’s anything less cute than clogs, it’s that degree of homophobia and transphobia.

That’s why we worked with GLSEN, Advocates for Youth, and two queer sex educators to create a safer sex guide that understands the accurate complexity and diversity across gender identities, sexual orientation, attractions, and experiences.

Only 5 (ish) percent of LGBTQIA+ students saw any LGBTQIA+ representation in health class.

This guide is for the 95 percent of students whose many sexual health questions went unanswered in school.

  Be upfront about the type of sex you want to possess &#; including if you want to use condoms. &#; and bring safer sex materials with you. Not using condoms can put you at chance of STIs, and people on certain drugs may have rougher sex increasing the risk of bleeding and infection.

  PrEP

  PrEP is a drug which, when taken correctly, prevents you from contracting HIV. If you are going to possess unproteced sex with muliple partners and under the influence of drugs &#; PrEP could be beneficial in limiting your peril of HIV infection.

  Other substances?

  You should avoid mixing drugs, with alcohol and any other drugs and never mix poppers with erectile drugs
  

  Sexual health for queer and bisexual men

  Having unprotected penetrative sex is the most likely way to pass on a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

  Using a condom helps safeguard against HIV and lowers the risk of getting many other STIs.

  If you’re a man having sex with men (MSM), without condoms and with someone brand-new , you should have an STI and HIV try every 3 months, otherwise, it should be at least once a year. This can be done at a sexual health clinic (SHC) or genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic. This is important, as some STIs do not bring about any symptoms.

  Hepatitis A

  Hepatitis A is a liver infection that's spread by a virus in poo.

  Hepatitis A is uncommon in the UK but you can receive it through sex, including oral-anal sex ("rimming") and giving oral sex after anal sex. MSM with multiple partners are particularly at risk. You can also get it through contaminated food and drink.
