Pornography is a highly expedient, effective as well as affecting, cultural practice to consider the phenomena of post-national identities in Europe today. Nowhere is this more evident than in what Cervulle and Roberts have termed gay ethnic pornography: “a legal title widely used in French lgbtq+ sexual culture to designate the particular genre of porn involving non-white men.” As part of this phenomenon French, German, Czech, and Swedish pornographic film performance companies contributed to this genre with numerous films that hold been produced in Europe and S.W.A.N.A. regions. Pioneering examples of French gay ethnic pornography inspired other Western European and US-based filmmakers and porn film companies to focus on the sub-genre of gay ethnic pornography. This paper aims to introduce an overview on the pornography produced in Mexico by and for the male gay community, in the fields of video and film. It is based on the hypothesis that the possibility of creating gay pornography in Mexico is incorporated into the visibility gained from its inclusion in the Sexual Dissidence Movement on a global scale and facilitated by this market as the dominant element in the globalization process. This document presents some theoretical approaches to pornography and its genres, as well as presenting an overview on the international porn industry, with a special emphasis on the North American market; it presents a brief history of gay porn and examines the context and the evolution of Mexican gay porn and its relationship with the noticeability achieved by, and through, the movement of sexual dissidence.

Description
Debates about the local and the global continue to be prominent in cultural studies. By taking an example of Australian homosexual porn videos, which in some ways are convincingly 'local', the paper suggests that previous attempts to define 'the local' - in terms either of textual features or provenance of production - are problematic. It proposes instead the idea of 'persuasiveness' as a way of accounting for 'localness' which does not rely on implications of authenticity.
